Lunel, well situated geographically between two large cities (Montpellier and Nîmes) is a French commune in the Hérault department, in the Occitanie region. Its inhabitants are called the “Lunellois” and the original inhabitants of the town are called Pescalunes in the Occitan language, which means: The Moon Fishermen! The not-to-be-missed festival of the town is called the “Pescalune”. It usually takes place in mid-July.
Lunel is a cosmopolitan city and full of rich cultures and traditions.
In the historic indoor market, you can find everything from fish to cold meats and other local specialties. A pure moment of culinary delight under the Mediterranean sun. Muscat and “Gardiane” are the two emblematic gastronomic specialties of Lunel. Its outdoor market is also a must in the region.
Several cultural events punctuate the life of the town: The festival of Lunel named “Pescalune” in the middle of July, “The international guitar festival”, “The Jazz Festival”, concerts in the arenas, various and varied exhibitions in the museums, and many other events are waiting to seduce you.
